After providing quite a few interesting options about 'where to buy Indian ethnic clothes online' , I have compiled few options to rent the clothes for an occasion ! While some us might go thinking on the word 'rent' , let me tell you that its quite a popular trend in the United States. People rent prom dresses and tuxedos all the time !! We have a mental block of not repeating an outstanding (and exorbitant) piece of clothing once we have worn it to the occasion it was bought for .. the poor dress just sits in the garment bag for a very looong time ..
Howeverrr ... if you have an option to rent wear and return, you can wear multiple dresses for the price of one ! Not a bad deal I say :D
So without further ado .. lets get renting ! I mean lets get going !!
1. borrowitbindaas.com : Love the name ! Founded by Ridhi and Sidhi (sisters I guess :D ) , this online store has everything from standard Indian wear to ready made blouses to pre pleated sarees and accessories. they ship country wide and borrowing from them doesnt burn a hole in your pocket ! They extend their services to weddings and all related functions and if you like something, just buy it off !
Here is some of the stuff from BIB that I like !
2. http://www.deviscloset.com : Their tagline says "wear Flaunt return" :D which is exactly the idea right ! They have some designer labels on their board too but its not the pret line I am sure . They certainly have scope to enhance their lehenga section and add some more fancy stuff. They have some nice men's wear under Devi's closet and guys can certainly have a look at that. Check out their 'Jodha saree' - its pretty :)
3, http://www.sarisandthings.com : Definitely has more than just sarees :D My logic is that initially they might have started with just sarees and then moved on to lehengas , churidars and men's wear . They have the prettiest collection in the rental market and rents to match with ;) Here are some of the pretty pieces that I came across in just 5 minutes of browsing through their website .. and they have HUGE collection !! I should have put this on number 1 :P
