If looking good was all about throwing on a Van Heusen shirt and a pair of Blackberry trousers or wearing Guess jeans with an Espirit top , the world would be such a fashionable place to be in :D
But there was a reason the term "Fashion Faux Pas" was coined ! Fashion Faux is anything and everything that makes the fashion police cringe :p
We all makes fashion mistakes (yes me too !! just imagine ! lol !! )
Foremost : Ill fitted clothes is something that will make you look bad whether you have the color combination right or not and your expensive brands too cant save you here :( This goes for ladies and gentlemen equally...
Whats ill fitted ??? Well, A pair of jeans or trousers that give you muffin top or a tshirt that has your tummy pressing against it or a shirt that has the buttons ready to pop ! Even over sized clothes classify as ill fitted btw.
Like they say : Putting a pretty shirt on a muffin top doesn't make you a cupcake ! LOL !!
so avoid these :
For the ladies :
Colors ? most of the colors and patterns can be worked together except for a few exceptions :
An all neon ensemble . 2 animal prints in a single look. Black + Brown together. 2 very bright colors as the key pieces. blingy top + blingy bottom (unless its a club). AVOID.
also, please don't try to match your shoes, watch, bag and earrings to your outfit ! trust me I know someone who used to do this ..
Please avoid slip on sandals on formal pants with formal shirts ! yes, I have seen this ALL the time !
Check your clothes before wearing for any lose threads. Be very wary of big armholes while going sleeveless. Ditto for low backs.
Matching your eye shadow to the color of your outfit is not cool for work (no ! not even if you are a newly wed !) . Stick to neutrals please.
For the gentlemen :
Guys, black trousers do not go well with brown shoes. Black shoes don't go with brown trousers. Camel shoes can be worn with brown trousers or even navy. Black shoes look good on grey trousers too.
Also, please do not , for the love of god! , wear sports shoes with formal trousers. Looks super bad !
Do not wear socks on sandals. It was in fashion once I know but its not now. ok !

No whites under whites please and no darks under lights please ! No matter how cute your strap is, keep it safely tucked in (at your work place at least ! ) . And a wake up call !! skin color straps are not really skin color. They show and they look tacky !
